And that is what makes scaling hard.
The Real Problem No One Likes to Admit
Every year, there’s a new wave of technology promising to “solve” growth:
Better tools
Smarter systems
More advanced custom AI workflows
More automation
And don’t get me wrong, those things matter.
But none of them fix the core issue. The more people you add, the more complexity you introduce.
And complexity doesn’t break because of systems. It breaks because of humans.
Poor decisions.
Avoided conversations.
Emotional reactions disguised as strategy.
Ego-driven choices that feel right in the moment and cost you later.
I’ve seen this pattern over and over again (and I’ve lived it myself).

Why I Rehired an Executive Coach
Recently, I made the decision to rehire an executive coach.
Not because I was struggling.
Not because the business was failing.
But because I know myself well enough to understand this:
Left unchecked, my human-ness is a liability.
Over the last 90 days, I’ve had to make some genuinely difficult decisions. The kind that tests your judgment, emotions, and leadership all at once.
Rehiring a coach was my way of putting a mirror back in front of my face every single week.

I’m better when someone is:
Watching my decision-making patterns
Challenging my assumptions
Forcing me to raise my standards, not just my revenue
Growth isn’t just about raising ceilings. It’s about raising your baseline.
And I’ve learned the hard way that I don’t do that consistently without accountability.

The Reminder I Want You to Take From This
No amount of technology will save you from yourself.

Those tools amplify whatever leadership already exists.
