Value Of Your Time

I recently met an entrepreneur stuck at 50k/mo.

This founder informed me he was a sales genius, and could easily scale his business to 150k MRR with no problem.

But he had no time.

He had a team of three, and he was acting as the strategist & account manager for each client.

He was basically a glorified freelancer.

At his level of revenue, he had great margins and could easily invest in growth via team & ops.

When I poked around his business, I found something interesting.

He was bartering with one of the vendors that was assisting him.

Now, I totally understand being frugal and leveraging your skills for a good ol' trade.

But what this founder wasn't seeing was that he was robbing himself.

A founder like this, the sales & marketing savant, is easily worth $500/hour-$1000/hour (minimum) for their company.

If I gave this guy the full-time role of sales and marketing for his business, and he could rely 100% on ops, he could probably scale to 3M-5M in 12 months.

So $500/hour-$1000/hour is actually lowballing it.

The time this founder was investing into a bartered account was actually costing him more than it was saving him.

He was looking at saving $2000/mo for a barter.

But when we took into consideration the value of his time, he was probably losing out on thousands in opportunity cost.

He's the paradigm shift he needed to have.

Every week & month he worked in a role that was not the highest leverage activity for his company (marketing and sales for this founder), he was losing out on 10s of thousands.

If he had been willing to invest in a handful of better vendors & a few key team members to delegate things off his plate, he could probably be adding an extra 500k in annual revenue within 90 days or less.

Just because you can save a buck, doesn't mean that you aren't still losing.

It's just invisible to the naked eye.

If you're a sales & marketing genius like this guy was, here are some reference points for you to keep in mind:

If you were full-time in sales and marketing in your company, for every half million you could add in annual revenue as a result of being in that seat, your time is worth $240/hour.

500k=$240/hr

1M=$480/Hr

2M=$720/Hr

This should be your filter moving forward when deciding if you should do something or delegate it.
