Your 5-step Checklist To Creating SOPs
My friend, let’s get something clear:
Building SOPs for your business is essential if you're aiming to scale to 7-8 figures predictably and consistently.
But when it comes to creating SOPs, business owners don’t know where to start
They create SOPs with missing components...
Leaving their team scratching their heads
Struggle scaling performance and see results they desire, &
Can never remove themselves from working in the business
Without the right SOPs, you will be stuck in your agency's trenches for life
Here's the 5-step SOP creation checklist we’ve used to help 600+ agency owners scale:
Step 1: Step-by-step breakdown of the task
Write down step-by-step directions for each task telling team members what they need to do.
You need to clearly elaborate each member's role and responsibilities and ensure they understand every single step.
Step 2: Hyperlinks to other documents
Many SOPs reference other components of your systems.
Recreating every step will add redundancies and make it diffcult for your team to follow through.
Make it easy for your team to read through the document by hyperlinking to other documents.
Step 3: Video trainings & pictures
Start every SOP with a video. Period.
Most of your team will often rush through important documents missing out on key elements
As a result, when they'll submit their tasks, you'll realize that they missed a step and have to do everything again.
What an absolute waste of time.
By creating videos, you show your team how they should approach each task and the end result they should expect.
Once the loom is ready, you can pass it over to an admin/PM to transcribe and fill the document with the missing steps.
Step 4: Define "Done"
Your team will never see "Done" the way you see done.
Doesn't mean they're a bad member of your team.
But it does mean that you put in time to explain how you would deliver the task.
So, when they're attempting it, they know exactly what it means when you ask them to "crush it."
Step 5: Additional resources needed
The final step is housing your SOPs.
While Google is great when you're starting out...
But as your business - & your SOPs - grow, you'll find yourself juggling with links
That's why I strongly recommend using apps like Airtable, Tettra or Notion to house SOPs
And create a hierarchical structure that even a 2yo can navigate.
