Speed is killing your agency growth

There’s one behavior I almost never see in 8- and 9-figure agency owners.

💡 Today's Key Insight:

The founders who build the biggest agencies are rarely the ones moving the fastest in the short term. They’re the ones willing to slow down long enough to build things correctly the first time.

Over the last seven years, I’ve met thousands of 7-, 8-, and 9-figure agency owners.

And there’s one behavior I consistently see in lower 7-figure agencies that I rarely see in 8- and 9-figure businesses:

They operate with a rushed, reactive mentality.

Ironically, that approach usually creates the exact outcome they’re trying to avoid: slower growth.

Let me explain.

In Lean Six Sigma Operations, the philosophy that I started my career under, one of the core concepts we measured was something called First Pass Yield: The first time something is done, it’s done correctly.

And the more I’ve worked with high-level founders, the more I’ve realized this principle applies almost perfectly to scaling an agency.

The best operators I know have what I’d call a slow attack mentality.

They move deliberately in areas that matter and slow down long enough to build leverage properly.

Why Most Agency Founders Stay Stuck at Low 7-Figures

They have a corner-cutting problem.

I see this all the time with agency founders trying to scale:

  • Hiring too quickly because the pressure feels unbearable

  • Delegating processes they haven’t mastered themselves

  • Making reactive decisions because growth feels urgent

  • Choosing “fast” over “correct”

And look, I understand the temptation.

When you’re growing, everything feels like it needs to happen immediately.

But I’ve found that every rushed decision creates hidden operational debt.

The founders operating at the highest levels understand something most people don’t: The fastest path is the one with the fewest rebuilds.

I genuinely believe one of the biggest mindset shifts founders need to make is understanding that patience is often a growth strategy.

The agencies that become truly scalable aren’t built through frantic execution.

They’re built through deliberate execution that compounds for years.

And based on everything I’ve seen, slowing down in the right places is often the fastest way forward.

If you’re trying to scale your agency without creating operational chaos, we help founders build the systems, processes, and custom AI workflows that actually compound over time.
