A great script to use:

“Client, my job is to make your company bigger and better through our marketing services.

Currently, I’m not able to do that to my highest ability because I am focusing too much of my time on invoicing rather than adding value and growing your business.

Would you be open to helping me help you (more) by saving your CC on file and adjusting our invoicing terms?”

If it feels appropriate, you can also share if you’re operating your business on credit to survive until your invoice is paid.

This approach is honest, transparent, and aligns your interests with your client's, while making life easier for you.
