Before You Start

You need Node.js version 22 or higher installed on your Mac. If you don't have it, download it from nodejs.org first.

Step 1: Install Clawdbot

Open the Terminal app on your Mac (find it in Applications → Utilities), then copy and paste this command:

npm install -g clawdbot@latest

Press Enter and wait for it to finish installing.

Step 2: Set Up Clawdbot (Guided Setup)

After installation, run this command:

clawdbot onboard --install-daemon

This starts a guided setup that will ask you questions. Here's what it will ask:

1. Where to run the gateway: Choose "Local" (runs on your Mac)

2. Authentication setup: You'll need either:

   • An API key from Anthropic (for Claude) - recommended

   • An OpenAI API key

   • Or connect via OAuth if you have a Claude Pro/Max subscription

3. Which messaging apps: Choose WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, or others you want to use

4. Install as a background service: Say "Yes" so it runs automatically

From here, Claude (if you haven't updated) should run normally.
