Easy objection-handling process to win more deals

One of the best negotiation tools you can use?

Simple math.

This week, an 8F client came to us with a situation:

A prospect was considering hiring multiple developers in-house to handle a complex app build, instead of hiring the agency.

The founder admitted that their dev hires had been inconsistent in the past, which is why they were exploring the agency route.

(I think the prospect in this scenario had a success rate lower than 50%.)

Here’s the simple objection-handling process I gave him to easily win this deal:

“Thanks for sharing where your head is at with this decision.

I’m curious… you mentioned in the past that not all of your dev hires have been successful.

Do you know, out of the last 10 hires, how many worked out to the speed, quality and standards you need to hit deadlines?”

With a sub-50% success rate, if they hire 3 dev roles for this project, they have a 12.5% likelihood of success.

50% x 50% x 50% = 12.5%

And that’s the best case scenario!

By showing the prospect the probability of failure, the numbers speak for themselves.

When you present hard math, it appeals to both the emotional mind (avoiding pain) and the logical mind.

The takeaway: Use math to highlight the risks in your prospect’s decision and show why your offer is the better bet.
